Cameron Boyce: What His Sudden Death Has Taught Me

Cameron Boyce: What His Sudden Death Has Taught Me

I learned today that Cameron Boyce had died in his sleep. Although his hit show Jesse and his role in Descendants was kind of annoying to me, the boy can act and his character was honorable. He was extremely talented and it’s sad to see that he was 20, my exact age now.

I learned about Cameron’s death via Instagram. Although I limited my Instagram consumption time, I still have the app. Seeing him on my feed and reading the details got me thinking about life.

1) You Can Pass At Any Moment

I know this a cliche one, but every time someone dies whether it is a celebrity or a family member, this lesson hits home. Many of us, me included, can hate on life all we want. But knowing how instant death is really scares me. It didn’t help that he seemed healthy and active.

Death quote about how instant it is.

What hit me most about his death was that he was 20. I literally watched and grew up with him which makes it even worse. Also, being 20 myself and having mood swings all the time, I feel very useless at times.

I was literally crying today due to an outburst before I heard the news. Knowing that he just died out of the blue scares me considering God forbid, I can just die out of the blue.

There is so much stuff that I want to do in my life and I still have so many doubts about the people around me and how I want to achieve my goals. I wouldn’t want my life cut short especially when I’m in my prime.

2) You Can Be Young and Still Make An Impact

Cameron Boyce received the Pioneering Spirit Award at the 9th Annual Thirst Gala in April for raising over $30,000 with the Thirst Project. The project helped build two wells in Swaziland, providing clean drinking water to communities. Nevertheless, it is clear that he had millions of fans being the Disney Star he was.

And although he did things that most 20 yr olds have yet to do, his death gives me inspiration that you can be at your prime in any age. His death reminds me of how young I am and how much time I have left to make a difference and something out of my life.

3)You’re Only Valued More When You Die

I list this point because many of us often feel like we aren’t valued. I know damn sure I feel this way many times too. But, when you look at the accomplishments and the relationships you made in life, you really are valued by someone.

It sucks when we see people getting more validation when we die. 2019 has shown that with Nipsey already. And although I can’t say much about Cameron Boyce considering I wasn’t exactly a fan, I can say that it is crucial to show your close ones some love.

Many times we lack appreciation for certain people in our lives. You never know when someone is going to die and you don’t want to that person living in regret wishing to talk to them one last time.

Rest In Peace Cameron

Of course, 2019 is going to have its list of the celebrities who died in 2019. The list will continue on and we will continue to grieve. And even though my very last blog has me mentioning my limits on focusing on celebrities, he is well worth the mention. Rest In Peace, Bud.
